It is important that you follow your surgeon’s nose job recovery instructions very closely to ensure you heal quickly after surgery. Although some swelling and bruising can be expected in the days following your procedure, these side effects improve with time. Let’s have a look at how you can ensure a comfortable and speedy recovery after a nose job.
A nose job reshapes your nose. It is a surgical procedure from which you need to recover. While you may not show visible signs of your nose job, in many cases it may take up to a year for you to fully recover from the procedure. Less complex procedures may be performed on an out-patient basis, so you may not need to stay overnight.
What To Expect During Your Nose Job Recovery Period
Most patients will need to wear a nasal splint or bandage for the first week after their nose surgery. It is quite normal to have some bruising and swelling around your eyes afterwards but most patients report that this improves after the third day, or later in the first week.
It may be present for up to two weeks, however. Your nose job recovery and healing period will depend on the amount of work that was done.
Some patients have some swelling in or around their nose as well, but this is generally quite slight and only noticeable by the patient and your surgeon. This swelling will gradually disappear over the next six months after your nose job.
What To Do To Speed Up Your Recovery After Nose Job
Your plastic surgeon will probably advise you to avoid physical activity for three to six weeks following surgery. If you recover well you may be able to resume your usual activity levels sooner.
